Grameenphone introduces bKash as preferred payment partner

Leading mobile phone operator Grameenphone has recently introduced mobile financial service provider bKash as its preferred payment partner.

According to a joint statement released today, bKash will serve as the primary payment option in the MyGP app of the mobile phone operator, enabling customers to make one tap payments for a seamless experience.

Grameenphone customers can now enjoy quick and hassle-free payments through bKash, as stated in a press release.

The CEO of Grameenphone, Yasir Azman, and the CEO of bKash, Kamal Quadir, formally introduced the new service at a ceremony in Dhaka held at GPHouse.

This integration, which is the first of its kind in the industry, will provide customers with a secure, hassle-free, and convenient one-tap payment solution that simplifies their digital lifestyle, according to the statement.

Customers who designate bKash as their preferred payment method will no longer need to enter an OTP/PIN every time they make a payment; instead, they can complete the transaction with a single tap of digital consent from their bKash account while on the move.

“In the era of accelerated digitalisation, our customers need more convenient and innovative solutions for their digital lifestyle,” said the CEO of Grameenphone.

“I am excited to see that Grameenphone and bKash have collaborated to make our customer payment experience within MyGP more simplified, convenient and faster with the one tap payment solution.”

With 81.8 million subscribers, Grameenphone, a member of the Telenor Group, has been operating in Bangladesh since 1997.

bKash CEO Kamal Quadir said that the company will continue to work in such a way that others can also implement this service in the future.

“At the end of the day, our aim is to provide customers with easy and convenient services. The easier it is for customers to use these services, the faster we can deliver them. At the same time, the government’s cashless and Digital Bangladesh initiatives will also be accelerated.”

bKash, which was established in 2011, is a joint venture involving Brac Bank, US-based Money in Motion LLC, International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Ant Group, and the SoftBank Vision Fund.

bKash provides digital financial services under the supervision of the Bangladesh Bank.
