On Thursday, February 8, 2024, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, The State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, praised Walton Hi-Tech Industries as the largest and most successful hi-tech park in Bangladesh during his visit to the Walton headquarters in Chandra, Gazipur.

He emphasized Walton’s significant role in bringing innovative solutions through smart devices, contributing to the nation’s productivity and inspiring the goal of a self-reliant and export-oriented country.

The State Minister outlined the government’s initiatives towards building a smart Bangladesh, with targets to increase export volume to 5 billion within the next five years and generate employment for over 1 million people. Walton, he stated, is a crucial development partner in these venture.

Highlighting the government’s emphasis on locally manufactured products, he mentioned the utilization of nearly 4 lakhs of Walton tabs during the last population and housing census, saving more than Tk.150 crores. The government’s procurement strategy focuses on supporting locally made products, and Walton’s contribution in this regard has been recognized by the authorities of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics.

During his visit, Zunaid Ahmed Palak  inaugurated the commercial production of a solid-state drive (SSD), unveiled a new model of Walton smartphone called ‘NexG N72,’ and announced a 100% cashback offer on Walton computer products. The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including Secretary of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Shamsul Arefin, Chairman of Walton Digi-Tech Industries Limited SM Rezaul Alam, Managing Director SM Monjurul Alam, Managing Director of Hi-tech Park Authority GSM Jafarullah, Project Director of Aspiration to Innovation a2i Mamunur Rashid Bhuyan, and Walton Hi-Tech’s Director Raisa Sigma Hima.

Furthermore, Walton Television is contributing its dust-free cleanroom and lab research facilities to Aspire to Innovate (a2i) for the implementation of the country’s first lunar satellite project. Zunaid Ahmed Palak expressed his admiration for the simulation activities of the satellite conducted with the support of Walton, showcasing the electronics giant’s commitment to technological advancements.
