Teletalk, Bangladesh’s state-owned mobile operator, has embraced eSIM technology, ushering in a new era of digital connectivity. The official launch, led by Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Post, Telecommunication, and Information Technology, occurred at the ICT Tower in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Martyr’s Day, February 21.
Teletalk’s adoption of eSIM follows similar moves by private operators Grameenphone, Robi, and Banglalink. Grameenphone led the way by introducing eSIM in March 2022, with other operators swiftly following suit.

eSIM, short for embedded SIM, represents a departure from traditional SIM card technology. Unlike physical SIM cards requiring manual insertion, eSIMs are integrated directly into handsets, facilitating seamless network connectivity without the need for physical SIM card swapping.

Experts anticipate a significant global surge in eSIM usage, with projections indicating a rise to 3.4 billion eSIM connections by 2025. This trend underscores the increasing adoption of integrated and flexible mobile telecommunications solutions.
